Abstract Text:
A hybrid code MARS-K is applied to study the kinetic effect of fast ions with the anisotropic distribution in phase space on the fishbone instability in a toroidal plasma. The fishbone instability is enhanced when the fast ion distribution becomes anisotropic. Furthermore, the bounce motion of the trapped fast ions and the passing ions enhance the fishbone growth rate. The mode structure is consistent with the ECEI measured one on the HL-2A tokamak. More interesting, anisotropic distribution induces a new fishbone branch, of which the mode structure seems to be a consistent with the newly observed fishbone instability on the HL-2A. The dependence of the fishbone growth rate and real frequency on the safety factor and anisotropic indicator will also be shown.
