Abstract Text:
RF dispersion relations in the High Harmonics Fast Wave (HHFW) regime are very peculiar in Field Reversed Configuration (FRC) geometries. In fact, thanks to the unique FRC magnetic field which decreases monotonically from the outer wall to the geometrical axis an unlimited number of high harmonics associated to corresponding Bernstein waves are present. Such a distinctive ensemble of harmonics leads to the possibility to have resonances and energy deposition at different radial distances including the FRC closed field line region which is of substantial interest for TAE’s nuclear fusion program. We discuss the different features of the FRC dispersion relation and how it varies in terms of the FRC plasma parameters. The numerical techniques as well as the quasi-local approximation equations utilized to compute the complex wave-vectors values are presented.
