Abstract Text:
Using a variational integrator for ideal MHD in Lagrangian labeling, we study how the ideal coalescence instability equilibrates while the magnetic topology is preserved. In 2D, the formation of current singularity is confirmed by convergence study on the fluid mapping. In 3D line-tied geometry, the same feature as in 2D is observed at the mid-plane.
