Abstract Text:
Understanding the stability of high beta equilibrium profiles for ITER is important to achieve large Q(~10) values. To that end, we perform Gyrokinetic and Ideal MHD Ballooning analysis of these profiles. Specifically, we use the GS2 code to compute the gyrokinetic growth rate(gamma) against k_{perp} rho_i and alpha/alpha_0 and relate it to the marginal stability(s-alpha) curves obtained using Greene-Chance analysis. We perform calculations for different flux surfaces(rho*) and ballooning angles(theta_0).
