Abstract Text:
An elementary consequence of plasma current of the boundary is that the angle of the X-point, in the plasma, is not 90 degrees. Hence, in the case there is a true vacuum outside the last closed flux surface (LCFS), the usual 90 degree quadrant assumption in the vacuum region cannot make a total 360 degrees. The Green function method based on the equivalent surface current is used to address this problem. In the actual scrap off layer (SOL) case, the plasma pressure remains finite. The adaptive numerical shooting scheme is proposed with the practical SOL transport model being used. The numerical scheme provides a new solution for constructing the free boundary equilibrium from the fixed boundary one. The comparison with CORSICA II, EEC, and other tokamak free boundary codes will be discussed.
