Abstract Text:
A.Z. Janda [1] presented a partial solution of a vorticity-free four-field model [2,3] of 2D dissipationless Hall magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) in terms of the Weierstrass elliptic function. A recent paper [4] generalized the analysis presented in [1] and offered a complete solution set of the four-field Hall MHD model in terms of the Jacobi elliptic functions in the limit of zero electron inertia. This solution set includes three solutions that have finite-time singularities and one solution that is periodic. Animations of the X-point collapse will be shown as the four-field solutions go through each finite-time singularity. The perturbation analysis that retains finite electron inertia will also be discussed.
