Abstract Text:
Within the Exascale High-fidelity Whole Device Modeling project, a signifi-
cant speed-up of the whole device modeling simulations could be enabled by the
coupling of core reduced delta-f and edge total-f gyrokinetic models. Certain
challenges for the coupling procedure arise due to the difference in the gyroki-
netic equations of both models [1]. More recently [2], the coupling between these
models has been investigated in a quiet start scenario where turbulence physics
is switched-on over an already converged axisymmetric simulation. It is shown
that the radial electric field and its drive have to be taken care of consistently
while coupling different models together. New results on the coupling of core
delta-f and edge total-f models, over the whole device plasma, will be discussed.
