Abstract Text:
Ideal MHD and various reduced magnetofluid models can be derived from an action principle expressed in Lagrangian variables. In this work, an extension of Ref. [1], we explore the possibility of including finite ion gyro-radii contributions in three dimensions using a three-dimensional generalization of the gyro-map introduced in Ref.[1] and further analyzed in Ref.[2]. The resulting equations of motion will be compared to models from the literature. In addition, obtaining the same equations using a Hamiltonian approach will be explored. This poster is based on joint work with M. Lingam (Princeton) and P.J. Morrison (UT Austin).
